Alamos Cabernet Sauvignon
Cooler temperatures afforded by the vineyard’s appellation help produce a Cabernet that offers bold, fruit characteristics and fine-grain tannins. Layers of blackberries, deep plum and blueberries meld together for a rich, saturated flavor. Our Cabernet Sauvignon offers a classic expression of Argentina’s influence on the staple variety.
Our Argentina Cabernet Sauvignon expresses the deep, rich dark berry fruit notes that are classic hallmarks of the variety, complemented nicely by slight herbal characteristics. Firm tannins and oak aging merge to add complex layers of vanilla, clove and black pepper to the Cabernet wine. Because of the intensity of the sun and the dramatic cool temperature shifts at night, both qualities that come from high elevation vineyards, our Cabernet Sauvignon grapes develop thicker skins with wonderfully concentrated aromas and riper, softer tannins. Our high-elevation Alamos Cabernet is flavorful and powerful while remaining elegant and round with an appealingly light, velvety-smooth mouthfeel, which sets our Argentine wine varietals apart from other new world wine regions.
The 2014 vintage in Mendoza was filled with cold, wet days that led to wines with heightened acidity, lower sugar levels and concentrated aromatics. Although yields were lowered by the cooler weather, the excellent acidity and tannins of the wines of 2014 from Mendoza grapes produced enhanced vibrant color and flavor concentration.
