Selección Malbec 2013
The 2013 Alamos Seleccion Malbec is sourced exclusively from the Uco Valley, a cooler part of Mendoza. 2013 was a fresh vintage that produced a very fresh and serious wine. Only 30% of it matured in barrel. It feels like a serious Malbec with nice concentration and complex aromas mixing fruit, flowers and spices. The palate is medium to full-bodied with prodigious balance, refined tannins and very good length. Dead gorgeous and a bargain for the quality delivered. 300,000 bottles produced.

Selección Malbec 2012
Lots of tar, licorice and blueberry character. Full body with fine tannins and juicy fruit. Chocolate, hazelnut and hints of cream. A savory, delicious wine. This is made from five different vineyards.

Selección Malbec 2012
The 2012 Alamos Seleccion Malbec is sourced from San Carlos in the Uco Valley, a cooler quarter where the alcohol is restrained to 13.5% and the freshness is high. It reminds me a bit of the High Note Malbec, a joint venture between the Catena family and their American importers Winebow where they use high altitude vineyards to keep the freshness. This is very dark, with ripe dark fruit, abundant spicy notes, cinnamon and vanilla. The palate is medium-bodied, with a touch of elegant rusticity, with plenty of fine-grained tannins. It develops a violet note with time in glass. Drink 2014-2018.

Selección Malbec 2011
"Seleccion is proving itself to be a consistent modern Malbec (the last four vintages have rated 89 or 90 points). This rendition shows graphite, inky berry notes and savory spice aromas such as cumin and cardamom. It's rich and full bodied, with tobacco, coconut and baked plum and berry flavors. A smooth finish is neither tannic nor overpowering."

Selección Malbec 2010
"This is Alamos's top Malbec, and it is fat and savory on the nose, with rubber, leather, asphalt and cured-meat aromas in addition to showing jammy fruit scents. In the mouth, this is lush and meaty, with blueberry, jerky and campfire flavors. A toasty, stout finish is big and weighty, but overall this fruit bomb is balanced."

Selección Malbec 2010
Purple black color. Aromas of chocolate nuts, berry pie, and pickling spices with silky, dry-yet-fruity medium-to-full body and a well-balanced spiced apple and citrus accented finish. Very flavorful and refreshing.

Selección Malbec 2010
The 2010 Alamos Seleccion Malbec is from the San Carlos region in the Uco Valley, undergoing malolactic fermentation in oak barrels and raised for 12 months in French and American oak. It has a very elegant bouquet with maraschino cherries, blueberry, cassis and violets akin to a fragrant Syrah. The palate is full-bodied with grippy tannins, layers of mineral-rich dark berry fruit and a very poised, composed finish that delivers waves of blackberry and balsamic-tinged cherries. This is a very impressive Malbec with “chutzpah.†Drink 2014-2020.

Selección Malbec 2009
Silky, smooth and elegant with ripe plum, spice and complex flavors; ripe, fresh and balanced with depth and excellent length; supple and vibrant.
‐ Anthony Dias Blue
Selección Malbec 2009
Good deep, full ruby. Violet, blackberry and a full load of chocolatey, nutty oak on the nose and palate. Very ripe, chocolatey malbec with a pronounced sweetness suggesting some residual sugar. Finishes chocolatey and broad, with soft tannins. Plenty of fruit here, but some tasters will find it too sweet.

Selección Malbec 2008
If you enjoy wines with the sweet ripeness of black fruit, the type of wines that offer the kind of full-bodied intensity and depth offlavor that is right at home in a steakhouse, this malbec is one of the better representatives of the style.
